More walks in July 2010 etc.

Saturday July 3rd.
Took bus to Newport and then to Yarmouth.
set off from Yarmouth to Bouldnor Forrest, then Newtown Bay to Shalfleet. From Shalfleet to Gurnard Ledge. Footpath closed but found someone who confirmed that it was still passable. Diversion was a lot longer. Eventuall got to Egypt Esplanade and arrived at bus termininus at West Cowes at 6.00p.m. Caught no 1 toNewport then no.2 to Sandown. Distance walked 16miles. No problem with walking but legs were a bit heavy - it was a bit of a plod.
Monday July 5th.
Took bus no 2 to Newport. Shopping in Newport. Bus no 1 to West Cowes. Took chain ferry to East Cowes. Turned right along by industrial sheds to power station and then turned left up hill past allottments to minor road and turned right and continued to Whippingham Church. Stopped for a coffee. Continued to Ryde and then on to Seaview, St Helens and Bembridge Harbour. Left leg swollen. Distance 14miles.
Tuesday July 6th
Left leg badly swollen. when to see pharmacist who directed me to Medical centre as it was cellulitis. Saw nurse practitioner who prescribed antibiotics. No more walking while on holiday.
Tuesday July 13th
Saw Dr Oliver who said walking would improve leg. Also dermol twice a day would reduce risk of cellulitis.
Saturday July 17th
Went for a short walk. First walked to chemist and then into town. Walked around Stanpit marsh to Avon Beach and returned same route. Distance about 6.5miles.
Monday July 18th
Short walks. Distance recorded as 3.38 miles
Tuesday July 20th
Walked around Stanpit Marsh to Avon Beach and back same way. Walk to dentist. Distance 7.5miles.
Wednesday July 21st
Walked Stanpit Marsh, Avon Beach, Cliffhanger and back to Avon Beach then home. Distance 11miles
Thursday July 22nd
Walked to Tuckton Bridge, Wick Fields, The Run, Hengisbury Head, Southbourne, along Harbour Road, Wick village and home. Distance 12miles
Friday July 23rd
Took X1 bus to Lymington onl;y to find that the timetable for the 112 to Hythe had ben changed to 10.45 and had left. Changed plans and walked from Lymington along Solent way to Sowley Water and back using the newer off road section which was very nice and pleasant apart from the field with cattle in it and on the far side there was a notice "beware of the bull" but on the first style into the field! Fortunately there was no sign of a bull.
Wednesday July 28th
7.10am departure. to Tuckton Bridger, Wick Fields, Sanddunes, Southbourne, Boscombe, Bournemouth, Poolwe, Sandbanks arrving at ferry at 11.45am. Then Shell Bay, Studland Bay, Old Harry Rocks, Ballard Down and into Swanage. Distance approximately 23miles.
Thursday July 29th
Took X1 to Lymington. Departed at 11.15 and 11.30 from lifeboat station. Lunch at top end of Milford-on-Sea. Met Jenny at Avon Beach at 4.15. Took ferry to Mudeford spit, Hengisbury Head, Harbour road, Wick and home at 7.00p.m. Have more energy and less tired on slopes. Distance approximately 22.75miles.

No more walks to end of month. Distance walked in July 134 miles. Not a lot but remember I was really ill and lost a lot of blood and my haemoglobin levels were low and slow to recover.
